1st CEM ISGAN – MI IC1 workshop

29th May 2019, Vancouver

IC1 and ISGAN reinforce their commitment to collaborate to accelerate smart grids deployment

This first CEM-MI event “Forum to facilitate Cooperation to accelerate the Market Uptake of Smart Grids”, a full-day public event held at the Vancouver Convention Center as an official side event of the CEM10/MI4, is a tangible first result of the collaboration between IC1 and ISGAN launched with a Letter of Intent signed at the 4th IC1 Workshop in Rome in November 2018.

Government representatives, eighteen IC1 member countries and the European commission, ISGAN representatives, International organizations as IRENA and IEA and a variety of stakeholders gathered in a collaborative environment to express their thoughts, opinions and perspectives for advancing the power system of tomorrow.

Important joint messages and announcements were delivered to policy: the launch of the Smart Grids Innovation Accelerator (SGIA) Platform, a useful tool to foster Public-Private collaboration, the release of the IC1 Country Report 2019, including the contribution of 16 IC1 Countries and the European commission on energy strategies, trends, projects and on-going activities in the field of smart grids and the release of two joint facts sheet on Flexibility and Energy Storage. ISGAN and GSGF (Global Smart Grids Federation) Awards 2019 ceremony was held, celebrating Global Excellence in Smart Grid Projects with special focus on “Smart Microgrids”.
